Member Firm LAN Associates has announced the grand opening of the Oakland Public Schools Elementary STEAM Lab at Heights Elementary School in Oakland, NJ. The event occurred on December 10, 2019. STEAM is the academic acronym for curriculum featuring Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/ Architecture and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. This is the first state of the art elementary STEAM classroom in the district that promotes a learning by doing educational philosophy. The ribbon cutting event was open to the public and attended by Oakland School District Officials, instructors, and other leadership staff as well as the project architect, Matthew Fink, AIA.
