A collaborative research team from Auburn University is seeking architects familiar with residential construction to complete a short survey related to “aging in place.” Specifically, the survey includes a listing of recommended items to be included in a residential renovation or new construction project for a client (or clients) that wish to age in place. The list was compiled from approximately ten different publications. The research team would like to discern which of the recommended items are typically included in aging in place-related projects, which items are not typically included, and why. The information will be used to develop a mobile application meant for designers, contractors, caregivers, and homeowners to reference when pursuing aging in place projects. The research is being conducted in conjunction with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
