AIA Newark and Suburban Invites you to Design/ Build Barkitecture for a Cause!

Call for Entries!

Calling all Architects, Designers, and Construction Professionals Design and build a unique pet shelter/pet furniture.

Are you passionate about design? Do you love pets? Do you enjoy building things? Now’s your chance to bring these passions together and create something that truly makes a difference! Newark & Suburban Barkitecture is the perfect opportunity to showcase your creativity while supporting animals in need.

WHAT IS BARKITECTURE

Barkitecture is a unique pet architecture competition that invites architects, designers, contractors, and other creative individuals to design and build innovative pet houses. Awards will be given.

These one-of-a-kind creations will be displayed and auctioned off at a fun, dog-friendly, family event on October 4, 2025, on the beautiful lawn and in the multi-purpose room of Union Congregational Church in Upper Montclair, NJ. 100% of the profit will be donated to Rescue Haven Foundation and PAWS, both of Montclair, as well as Associated Humane Societies, based in Newark.

This is a fantastic opportunity for contestants to demonstrate their creative, artistic, and problem-solving skills to the local community. Join us!

On the lawn* and in the multipurpose room

Of the Union Congregational Church at 176 Cooper Avenue, Upper Montclair *
In case of rain the event will take place fully indoors at same location
