Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine Site Tour

March 30, 2024
Reading Time: < 1 minute

March 30

130 Liberty St, New York, NY 10006

Join the Architects League for a special member event, featuring a private tour of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine, which opened in 2023 at the World Trade Center site. Designed by Santiago Calatrava with Koutsomitis Architects PC as the Architect of Record, it replaced the original church building that was destroyed on September 11, 2001. The recently constructed church boasts floors and exteriors crafted from the same Pentelic marble vein that graced Greece’s iconic Parthenon. Its distinctive dome, adorned with a translucent stone rainscreen, houses an impressive array of 40 skylights that illuminate the interior. Following the private tour of Saint Nicholas led by a member of Koutsomitis Architects’ team, we will get an overview of the World Trade Center site, led by ALNNJ member Joe David, who leads our annual Kessler tours.
