SUMMARY:ALNNJ: The Architects League at the FLOW Green Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Reading Time: < 1 minuteThis event is open to the public\, although space is limited to +/- 150 people. \nAIA members who attend will receive two (2) HSW LUs. \nWe will be screening SUPERhouse! by Jeffrey Wager. This film tells the story of the direct relationship between form and energy. Why do our houses and buildings look the way they do? While we have all come to understand that form follows function\, we need to look at our homes and buildings in the context of energy cost and supply. \nAs we discuss building codes\, industry practices\, the economics of building approach\, and the ever increasing cost of living in a world with a quickly changing climate\, we see a need for fast action. As buildings use 49% of all primary energy we create\, the Passive House building approach can have an immediate effect on Carbon Emissions\, Imported Oil and Energy\, and even people’s individual pocket books. \nImmediately following the film there will be a discussion featuring two members of New Jersey Passive House: Darren Macri (CEO of Wythe Windows and Bleu Nest who built New Jersey’s first Passive House in 2015) and Jim Muhaw (a Certified Passive House Tradesperson and a product consultant for 475 High Performance Building Supply).
